Legal Question in Criminal Law in Michigan
A few nights ago, I was assaulted by my 20 yr old daughter. She is a recovering drug addict who had relapsed and beat me severely enough to give me a concussion, fractured nose, black eye and severely swollen face. When I tried to call 911, she took the phone from me and called herself stating that I had assaulted HER. I was arrested and charged with Domestic Violence because she told them I started it. I spent 10 hours in the jail and was never offered medical treatment. I basically just slept while I was there, altho I was also vomiting extensively.
I now have to go to court and I am trying to figure out the best way to fight this. I have taken daily pictures of my face to keep a record of my healing, I have the Emergency room report. From what she has told Family members, her only injury is a swollen hand.
I have had no contact with her,(My choice, altho it is also court ordered.) I am not even sure where she is.
Is there anything else I can do? I am planning on getting a court appointed attorney.

Michigan law does not require you to settle for a court appointed attorney. You have a Constitutional right to hire an aggressive attorney of your own choosing to protect you, not the court's choosing. You should read more at:
