Legal Question in Criminal Law in Michigan

Outstanding Arrest Warrant In another State

I moved out of the state before I had my cort date, I'm sure that there is a bench warrant out for my arrest. Here is the question, can I be arrested 1250 miles away from the county that the warrant is out of? This is a misto, Non violent, bad check warrant.

Thank you in advance

Re: Outstanding Arrest Warrant In another State

It is doubtful that a state would travel that far to pick you up if it's a misdemeanor charge. However, if you return to that state and are picked up for, let's say, a traffic offense, it's far more likely that an arrest will follow. If you want to return to the state where you were charged, just contact an attorney who can arrange your surrender and get rid of the bench warrant. Then you can proceed to get rid of case with far less trouble.
