Legal Question in Criminal Law in Michigan

perjury

I was wondering what the usual penalties for perjury are in the state of michigan. A friend of mine gave testimony at a trail for a dui offense which I was found guilty. The state police are now investigating his testimony and it appears are going to try to charge him with perjury. Any help with this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Re: perjury

Perjury is a felony that carries a possible 15 year prison term. The false statements given must be material to the case, and remember, the prosecution has the burden of proof beyond a reasonable doubt. The false statement(s) must have been made under oath. Did the witness testify that he was the actual driver? If so, and that is why you were acquitted, he has a problem.
