possesion of a controlled substance

my boyfriend who is on probation for a 3rd dui was arrested in macomb county for a criminal crime and could not post bond, he has been in jail for 22 days now, when he went the prelimanary trial the charges were dropped when he was supposed to be released they put a hold on him for oakland county and says the warrant is for possesion of a controlled substance, which i know for fact he has never done drugs in his life (only drank) how can i find out if these are boggus charges??? or is this a violation of probation charge?? i don't know if alcohol is considered a controlled substance

Alcohol is not generally considered a controlled substance.

TO what judge is he on probation? I do quite a lot of work in Oakland county. Also, we would need to see the actual probation violation notice to know what their theory is.
