It depends on the arresting agency (city, county, or state), the amount of marijuana and circumstances of the arrest, the district court, the judge in that court, and your age.

The typical fines and costs for a first offender over the age of 16 are $300-$500, plus a year of probation (in most courts) at $25-$50 per month plus random drug screens. Supension of your driver's license will result if convicted as charged. Community service is sometimes ordered as well as outpatient treatment.

If convicted as charged you will have a misdemeanor on your record that will be accessible to a future employer, a school, or the military.

A lawyer can prevent most (sometimes all) of this from happening.
