Legal Question in Criminal Law in Michigan
possesion of stolen property
The police recently cam eto my house for a noise complaint. When my roomate opened the door to talk to the officer, the officer spotted a landscaping sign from CMU college. He told my roomate to give the sign to him, and said that he could be charged for having it. He then took the sign and left. My question is can they still charge us for having the sign if he didnt do it immediately then. If they can how long will it take to find out if they are charging us with a crime or not. Thank you very much for your help

Re: possesion of stolen property
Yes, it's called receiving and concealing stolen property. The warrant is not a high priority if the officer does decide to seek one. It may be a while if one is issued.
