Legal Question in Criminal Law in Michigan
I was on probation for 7 years, paying restitution for the entire time. At that point I was released from probation and I stopped paying the restitution even though there is still a balance owed. It has been two years since then and I just received a letter that if I don't pay it or make payment arrangements that they would put a warrant out for my arrest. Can they do this?

Yes. The restitution ordered in your criminal sentence is a legal debt that you will owe until it is paid in full, or until you die. Even though you are off probation, you still owe the money, and the court may enforce that responsibility.
