Legal Question in Criminal Law in Michigan

not getting proper service

I am wondering what I can do if I payed for my husbands attorney up front and he continues to lie about things he is doing. He will not show us proof of anything he has done to investigate or prepare for trial. He is very defensive when questioned. I feel he has taken my money and doesn't plan to work on the case. It is very upsetting because I believe my husband is innocent and he is up against a life sentence. Time continues to run out, any suggestions?
