Legal Question in Criminal Law in Michigan
Someone has my property locked in their house - I break in to retrieve what I consider my property - and have legal proof it is my property. I live in MI what is the law called that permits me to do this.

You CANNOT do this- it is a crime! The law does not permit you to break into someone's home and retrieve your property (think OJ and the Nevada case). Your remedy is to sue in civil or small claims court for the return of your property or the value of the property.

In addition to your proposed illegal (i.e. home invasion") retrieval of personal property that you "consider" to be yours (Your ex-girlfriend disagrees), you might take into account your possibly fatal injuries when you get shot for trying to pull this off.
