Do not talk to the police or agree to make any confessions without first consulting with an experienced criminal defense attorney. I cannot stress that enough,
I agree. Go in and meet with an attorney first to determine the best course of action.
As the other gentleman said, there is no benefit to meeting with the police in order to make an inculpatory statement. You have a fifth amendment privilege against self-incrimination (i.e.- the right to remain silent) - use it. Don't say a word to the police and call a criminal defense attorney.
As a former police officer I loved it when suspects came in to give me their side of the story. Contact me if you have any questions. The above counsels hit the nail on the head. Enough said.
