Legal Question in Criminal Law in Michigan

I recently became aware of my wife's infidelity. Like many, my reaction was .... lets just say... I was not happy. We are separated. I moved out. But, the lease is in both our names. I entered the house to confront her. I did not strike her, or choke, or make an attempt to end her life. I did take her cell phone and throw it. Went to get the phone because I wanted to find "his" phone number. She went for it also and there was a struggle. She scratched my arm and I pinned her to the edge of our bed. She was bruised. I was arrested for felony home invasion, and misdemeanor domestic violence. I did not mention my scratches out of fear of her being arrested. We have kids and I was concerned about what would happen if we both got arrested.

In addition, I was unaware that I was not able to enter the house after I moved out. I thought since it was in my name, that I could. My wife did not press charges. The home invasion charge was dropped. The state continued to press domestic violence.

I have NEVER been arrested for a crime in my life (I am 41). I was denied a court appointed attorney even though I cannot afford one. Neither can I afford to pay any fees that are may be due when I leave the court. What are my options? What am I suppose to do? Unfortunately, I only have 10 days from the time I am submitting this before a pre-trial hearing. I am desperate.

If you cannot get the court appointed attorney, hire a local defense attorney to help you. You have no other valid options.
