You are likely being charged with retail fraud in third degree. At the arraignment, plead NOT GUILTY. And as soon as you are able, consult with the best criminal defense attorney in Michigan that you can afford as you do not want a criminal conviction on your record which may haunt you for the rest of your life and may obstruct your educational and employment opportunities. Also, do not pay their civil demand of $200.00 until you speak with a good criminal defense attorney in Michigan.

You're not going to jail and there are ways to keep this off your record. Hold off on paying the $200 fine. It has nothing to do with your court case. At least get a court appointed attorney.
