Is there any way to reduce my "assaulter's" sentence?

You could show up for his sentencing and speak favorably about him but, after he's sentenced, no.

If the defendant has already been sentenced, then there is not much that you can do. Unless, he was sentenced to prison, and he is eligible for parole.
If the defendant has not been sentenced, then you can appear at sentencing and have a right to be heard. Contact the court and find out when the sentencing will take place. Appear and let the Judge's clerk know that you are the victim, and you would appreciate the opportunity to speak at the sentencing hearing.
