Legal Question in Criminal Law in Michigan
Restraining Order (PPO) and Possible Prosecution?
I am writing on behalf of a close friend of mine (female), who was raped over a month ago by two men. She knows one of them, but has never been involved with him romantically. I have two questions: 1) Will she be able to get a PPO issued by the court so that she will not have to be in contact with the perpetrator? 2) Can she still bring charges against him (and presumably the other man), even though a month has passed? Thank you.

Re: Restraining Order (PPO) and Possible Prosecution?
1) She's got a good enough reason that she should apply for PPO. The county clerk's office is typically where the application process starts.
2)YES...and she should! The longer she waits the harder it's going to be for the police to pursue it though.
