Legal Question in Criminal Law in Michigan

School

A child brought a knife to the bus stop swinging it at another child, then tossed the knife in my yard when he saw the bus coming, the police were called and school officials were notified. As far as I know he did not get into trouble. What should have happened to him? What are my childs rights she rides the same bus?

Re: School

The child could be subject to a 180 day suspension from school if indeed he/she brought a weapon to the school bus stop. If you observed the incident you have the right to file a complaint with the school. If the school officials refuse to do any thing about your complaiont you may bring it to your local school board. If the child threatened your child or any other child the police should be contacted for for possible juvenile court involvement. Good luck.
