In Michigan, fraud charges can vary greatly and even charges which are considered less serious can have a huge negative impact on your life. This type of charge can even be brought against those who have unknowingly filled out a form incorrectly. Even this seemingly inconsequential act can carry heavy penalties. Sadly, without an attorney, unsuspecting individuals may believe that they can get their charges dropped. Without the help of a lawyer you may be forced to serve jail time and pay large fines. If you are asked to speak with an investigator, inform them that you will be speaking with your attorney first, and do so.
