Legal Question in Criminal Law in Michigan

Sorting out legal matters

I have numerous legal issues I need to resolve. Most of them are unpaid tickets that have led to license suspension. However, one of the traffic tickets I received also had an infraction for possession of drug paraphernalia. In this same court, I also have pending charges for computer fraud/larceny. In order to resolve these issues, I obviously need a lawyer. However, in order to make enough money to afford a lawyer, I need a better job -- and that would require me to have transportation. Is it possible to go to my show cause hearings for the unpaid tickets, resolve those issues, and resolve remaining criminal issues at a later date? I am inclined to think the court will make me proceed with all matters in their jurisdiction, and if this is the case I can't resolve anything until I can afford to hire a lawyer. After my brief experience with a public defender, I am not willing to risk my record and freedom with someone I feel I cannot trust. It is important to me to resolve these matters responsibly, but it is even more important that I feel safe in knowing that I have adequate legal representation. Any thoughts, comments, ideas, advice, etc would be VERY MUCH appreciated!! Thank you so much.

Re: Sorting out legal matters

I think you're right on track. I also believe you'll need financial cial help from friends or family in the form of a loan. That might entail either lending you the money directly or using their good credit or home equity to obtain a bank loan to generate cash for you defense. We'd be pleased to see whether we can assist you in your defense.
