Legal Question in Criminal Law in Michigan
State of Michigan mistakeningly put a wrong criminal history charge on my record and caused me to lose my job after a back ground check. Any grounds to sue or compensation ? Do they keep records of all the charges put into their database ?

the state police's criminal history database comes from records forwarded by the local courts. so if the court coded in the wrong crime you were convicted of, you'll have to focus there. Governmental immunity likely precludes a successful lawsuit for damages. But if there is an error in the judgment of sentence or the court clerk's records, those can be corrected and the conviction re-abstracted to the state police, secretary of state, etc.
