Legal Question in Criminal Law in Michigan
Step Daughter
This is my last question on this subject. My Step Daughter married a dead beat who could not hold down a job, hit her and molested her son. He is in jail now and may get out soon but I feel she screwed up. She had someone forge his name on their income tax check this happened last year. She had someone forge his name on the title of his car so she could sell it. I found this out from her sister who insist that she had every right to do this and she did not forge the name on either document. The guy only worked part of the year and she paid for mot of the bill as well as paying for the car he drove. The car was in his name and she has no criminal record of any kind. She has three kids and I need to know if there is anything she can do to keep this from going to court or her to jail?

She should hire an attorney ASAP. She could be charged with several crimes. If you need help with this, contact our office at www.schmierlaw.com
Re: Step Daughter
Make sure he has a no-contact (with her or her kids) provision in his probation or in a separate PPO.
She should immediately stop talking about this to ANYONE except a lawyer. This includes friends, relatives, ex-friends, police, etc.
And, that's all she should do for now.
