Legal Question in Criminal Law in Michigan
Subdivision embezzlement
Wife of treasurer of subdivision embezzled $9,000.Restitution to be made.What should board of subdivision do? We want to be merciful and avoid embarrassment to family.Otherwise good family,has kids in school.Wife has problem with this before.Should the whole subdivision be informed. Kindly advise.

If she makes restitution immediately and you fire her husband, I wouldn't take it any further. Otherwise, I would call the police.
It would be unwise to put her on a repayment plan. If she defaults, it will appear to be a civil matter and the police won't help.
I don't see any point in notifying the other residents. It won't get your money back.
