Legal Question in Criminal Law in Michigan
Is it true that if someone uses "fight words", would I be able to physically hurt them and get away with it? For example: Someone calls me a "bitch" and I punch them.

No. That is absolutely not true. If they call you a bad word and you punch them you will likely be arrested and charged with an assaultive crime. They will not be charged. I often tell young people, it takes a stronger person to walk away from a fight, that to fight. I wish you the best!

No, you can't hurt somebody if they call you a bitch. You could be sent to jail. If you get sent to jail, lots of people will call you a bitch. You can't punch them either.
