Yes, there is. Aside from standard diversion programs that a lot of courts have (not all do however), you may also qualify for sentencing as a youthful trainee. You may also have a valid defenses or mitigating circumstances. I would strongly urge you to invest your resources in a good criminal defense lawyer because you do not want a crime of dishonesty on your record. Feel free to contact me at (517) 614-1983 to arrange a consultation. If I am not in your area I may know a referral.

There are lots of options. Consult with a local attorney and hire who you are comfortable with and can afford.

Have you already been convicted of Retail Fraud 1st, or are you trying to resolve an open case so it does not result in a conviction?? If it's an open case, then look to see if the prosecutor's office has a diversion program; otherwise, look into applying for HYTA probation (your guilty plea will not enter as a conviction, you'll be put on probation and if you complete everything the case is dismissed, but if you mess up on probation the judge can revoke HYTA status and accept your original guilty plea and you would be formally convicted). If you have been convicted of HYTA as an adult then it's too soon to apply to set this conviction aside (expungment) because that process cannot begin until more than 5 years have passed since your sentencing date.
