Legal Question in Criminal Law in Michigan
vcsa
Hi, I am a Canadian resident and recently was charges with a misdemeanor possession of marijuana. This is my first offense and I was wondering if conditional discharge applies to Canadian residents too or or if there is something else they do. The charge was in Coldwater Michigan. I actually had a pipe with a some remains of marijuana, not even .1 of a gram.

You should be eligible for HYTA and can discuss this with the prosecutor at your pretrial hearing. If you don't understand or agree with what the prosecutor is offering, you can always ask for a court appointed lawyer at a nominal cost who can then assist you in negotiating a plea or advise you on your chances at trial.
