Legal Question in Criminal Law in Michigan
Hello,
On Wednesday, 9-9-09, I rescued a female dog (who had just lost her entire litter of puppies) and brought her to the Al-Van Humane shelter, in South Haven Michigan. This dog was at my brother in laws house. There have been cruelty issues there before. Dogs die from starvation, freezing to death , etc.... and nothing has been done. They called the state police and I didn't believe that they actually did that. Well, today, 9-11-09, I called the state police asking for a copy of the charges (they were dropped, supposedly on 9-10-09) and he said I needed a case number. I didn't have one. He looked it up on the Michigan page, and there was NO case filed in our area with mine or sister in laws name or addresses. I left a message stating that I wanted a case number (because I believed that a kid protended to be the officer) and now they are calling family members to find a lawyer. There is a lot more to this story.
But can I be sued??
Please help!!

Who would sue you for saving the dog? Did I miss something? I am glad you were not criminally charged for someone else's horrid behavior.
