Legal Question in Criminal Law in Michigan

My wife asked a couple of guys over with the intent of them assaulting me. Is there a group assault law in Michigan? I know there is conspiracy to commit murder, but is there conspiracy to commit assault and battery. These guys beat me up pretty good.

There is a crime of "conspiracy to commit [fill in the name of the crime]". The penalty is either a misdemeanor or a felony depending on the level of the crime the defendants conspired to commit. There is also a crime of conspiracy to do an illegal act or a legal act in an illegal manner, which is a felony. There is no crime of "group assault". Rather, the people involved would be charged with the specific level of assault that fits your facts: misdemeanors of assault/assault & battery [proof of injury not required] or aggravated assault [serious or aggravated injury required, which is usually viewed as an injury requiring some medical treatment]; felonies of assault with intent to do great bodily harm, assault with intent to maim, assault with intent to murder, etc. Because it's your wife who may have aided/abetted (encouraged) the others to assault you, it could also be argued that this was "domestic violence" or "aggravated domestic violence" even though she didn't personally inflict the injuries.
