Legal Question in Criminal Law in Michigan
Witness & Complaintant
I am the sole witness and complaitant to an assualt that happened 6-7 years ago. The defendant is my son. There is a hearing tomorrow and although I have told the prosecutor that I do not remember the details of the incident he is proceding with the case. What is the proper verbage to say during the hearing that will have the charges dropped and also that I don't perjure myself or cause any other problems?

Re: Witness & Complaintant
Not wanting to committ perjury is a wise decision. You should just go and tell the truth. In other words, if you truly don't remember anything, just say it that way. (You can also consider hiring an attorney to be with you while you testify.)
