woman keyed my car in a local Mi parking lot.
she has admitted to the damages
can I prosecute her and what occurs with this action.

All you can do is file a police report regarding the incident. The police will investigate, do a report, and submit it to the prosecutor for review. If the prosecutor feels that charges for malicious destruction of property are warranted, the prosecutor will file the charges. However, you have to report it to the police before any charges can be filed. The sooner the better.

Assuming she had a reason (even a bad one) for keying your car, you might consider how things will go for you after the police talk to her.
