Legal Question in Criminal Law in Michigan

I wrote a nasty statement on someones car with a "Dry Erase Marker". Caused no damage to the vehicle. What trouble could I get in?

It could still be prosecuted as Malicious Destruction of Personal Property. "Damage" did occur: you did something that disfigured the property and required repair, even if not by an auto mechanic. There are several levels for MDOP based on the value of the damage / repair cost. Under $1,000 and you are in the misdemeanors, $1,000 or more and it could be issued as a felony.
