Legal Question in DUI Law in Michigan

dui/dwi

I was arrested for dui and plead down to owi, my first offense.

I went to court and couldn't pay the fines so they sent me to jail, 5 days later I was able to get the money. So now all my fines are paid and I was placed on18 month probation, Now I have violated prob. and don't think I would be able to complete all the requirements of my prob. I know I have a problem with drinking and I am lookin into a inpatient alcohol program. What I would like to know is if I turn myself in and just do the time they told me the 5 days I already spent in jail are worth nothing. Is this right/fair? I just want it to be over so I can move on with my life. Thank You

You're "lookin into" an inpatient program with a warrant out for you? Do have a health plan that covers the cost? Inpatient is expensive.

Is the reason you can't complete probation because you keep testing positive?

If this is your first drunk driving, why do you think you're getting jail time for your VOP?

Call the court and ask the criminal clerk for the amount of the bond on your FTA. Get enough money for the bond and then appear in front of the magistrate.

Stop "lookin into" and start attending some type of rehab. AA costs a buck. Put it in gear.

In the event you get some jail time, you won't get credt for your 5 days unless the judge gives you the full 93 (highly unlikely). Few get more than 10 days for the 1st VOP.

It sounds like your not doing such a great job trying to be your own lawyer. I recommend that you hire an attorney that concentrates on drunk driving defense. I recommend Attorney John English. He can be reached at
