Legal Question in DUI Law in Michigan

Mip

Five years ago I got a MIP in Traverse City. All I had to do is pay a fine and I was wondering how long it would be on my record? I am studying to be a teacher and I know they do background checks, will the MIP show up??

Re: Mip

It may not be on your record at all since pleas on many MIP's were deferred. Check the court (i.e. ask the clerk) and ask to see your file.

If it's on your record and is your only conviction you can have it expunged.

If you were under 17 when you were ticketed, there should be no record as a juvenile.

Re: Mip

IF there is a misdemeanor conviction on your record, its there for life. There is a procedure to ask the court if they will expunge (wipe out) the conviction on your record. That is done at the judge's discretion.

Your first step is to check to see if its even on your record. You can do so by filling out the proper request form with the Michigan State Police to check your criminal record.
