Retail Fraud 3rd Degree
I was arrested for the above subject at a Walmart in Shelby Township, Michigan. I was cooperative and have a Court Date coming soon, do I need an Attorney or what should I expect. Am I possibly looking at jail or just a fine. I had a similar arrest 20 years ago and never had it cleared from my record. I was laid off in March and just recently went back to work, I came close to losing my home and have 2 teenage sons who depend on me for moral and financial support. I am ashamed and embarassed over the whole situation, the item in question was listed as around $150.00. The whole thing was a mistake and i wish it nver happened but I don't know what I should expect.

Well, you're not going to jail, but you will be fined and may get a letter from WalMart asking for $200. An attorney may be able to shorten or eliminate your probation.
Get a court appointed lawyer. It may cost about $150.

The possible penalties include jail and / or fines, etc. I recommend that you have an experienced attorney on your side unless you feel highly qualified to practice criminal law. You can phone us for a free evaluation at 1 8667665245.
