Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan
I'm 16 and turning 17 in June. I live in Michigan, and I heard that you can move out when you're 17. So, I looked up information and saw that in the Juvenile courts, anybody under the age of 17 is a minor. So, that would be up until you're seventeenth birthday. I know when you're seventeen your not legally an adult yet, but because the courts no longer consider you a juvenile, you can't be charged as a run away as long as your parents know where you are. Is this true?

While you may be able to be "emancipated" in Michigan, this is not something that is common or recommended. It requires the court's approval. If you are having problems at home, talk to your school counselor. Leaving home at 17 is not a good idea, and the court will make you show how you plan to support yourself, and show where you will live, etc.
