Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

my 20 year old son has a 5 month old child with his ex girlfriend. No F.O.C. involvement yet, but the child's mother has stopped letting my son take the baby for visitation. Up to this point, he had the baby 3 days a week and every other saturday and she had the baby for the same amount of time. he works only part time and just finished training school, so he doesn't have the funds for an attorney and when he called F.O.C. they told him they couldn't do mediation until he got a lawyer and opened a case. What are our options?

You can start a visitation case yourself but it is difficult. This is your grandchild you are talking about. Therefore, I would take up a family collection in order to hire an inexpensive, competent lawyer so that this child winds up a part of your family. If you are in the metro Detroit area, feel free to contact me and I will give you the names of competent, inexpensive lawyers who specialize in this type of case.
