Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

Abandonment

My son lives with his mother in Florida

and I had him for 2 months from June

til august he returned to her for 1

week and she called and said she got

into some trouble so I have had him

since and he is going back home in a

few days. I am not very comfortable

with him returning to Florida and I

have asked her if she would like for me

to keep him longer but she says that

she is okay. I was told this may be a

form of abandonment but I am not so

sure just b/c she didnt just leave I

knew what was going on. Please let

me know. Thank you in advance.

Re: Abandonment

If you are wanting to obtain primary custody, the best way to accomplish it would be to go to court to get it changed. Keeping your son just because she seems to be having problems with no court order will not really benefit you.
