abusive teen

what can a parent of a 13 yr. old do when it will not be made mind and has no respect for the parent or cant disapline without getting hit or yelled at and the other parent lets the teen get away with it?

If your teen is so out of control that s/he is hitting you, then you need to get outside help, because your child is asking for big trouble.

I don't like to recommend that a child be taken into the juvenile system by a parent (after all the parent raised the child), but sometimes you have to put your safety first. You don't have to put up with it, and if you do, you're giving your child a bad message.

You can have your child placed under the supervision of the court, and the court will have some punishment and incentive tools that you don't.

First, though, I would try serious family counseling (the court will probably require this anyway), and see what the problem is with your child.

Clearly, the child needs some anger management and discipline, but it usually takes two to tango, so you might also look at your parenting so far and see what you might do better, before subjecting your child (and yourself) to the court system.
