Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

Ex admits pregnancy by another man during divorce

My ex-wife admitted to being pregnant by another man and he also claimed the child was his ( considering I can not physically have children so there was no way the child was biologically mine) the day before the divorce was going to be finalized. My question is how is it possible for her to claim it was a product of the marriage when I was living in a different state at time of conception and she and him admitted in front of both lawyers and the judge that the child isn't mine. She wanted to make me pay her medical expenses and child support for a child that couldn't possibly be mine if I didn't agree to assume all martial debt. Both lawyers and the judge said that she could force me to pay for that and I would be forced to pay child support for 18 years. I'm just wondering how that could be?

Re: Ex admits pregnancy by another man during divorce

In Michigan there is a presumption that a child born during a marriage is the child of the husband. I handled a similar case last year. I represented a client who married while in prison and his wife became pregnant. Obviously the child was not his but after she sued for divorce she wanted child support. If you need some help with this, give me a call.
