Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

Alcoholic Parent

My child's father is an alcoholic, lives with his parents, sleeps with my 5-year-old daughter in the parents' basement in his bed, brings her into school late when he has overnights with her. He does not work. He has had no job for two years. He has been jailed twice, 1 for a DUI and 1 for violation of probation when he ignored a bench warrant for nonpayment of support. He is $12,000 in arrears. I have contacted the prosecutor's office for felony nonsupport. I wish to modify the visitation to no overnights. Can this be done? As you know, even with a DUI it is very hard to prove the alcoholism. The Friend of the Court has allowed this to go on for over two years now. What can I do?

Re: Alcoholic Parent

You should have an experienced family law attorney ask the court to modify the parenting time.
