Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan
attorney billing
Is it appropriate/ethical/normal/commom for an attorney to charge regular legal fees for driving time from office to the court house. This is a llocal attorney and court, (20 minute drive one way), plus mileage and parking; this is a divorce attorney

Re: attorney billing
That's perfectly normal.
Re: attorney billing
It is normal and accepted. The lawyer does not charge for the time it takes to travel from his home to his office. However, once he is going to court, many lawyers charge for that time. Some lawyers charge reduced rates for travel time, however. William S. Stern

It's normal and customary. It might even be discussed in your retainer contract.
Re: attorney billing
Most likely yes, but review your fee agreement. Attorneys can, and often do, charge for travel time, in addition to mileage and parking costs. If the time charged is excessive, then you can discuss with your lawyer.
