Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

back child support enforcement

Help. What can a person do to show that child support enforcement right now would cause loss of employment? Back child support has been a severe issue for years, numerous bench warrants, jail time and bonding fees. It's a yearly event. Employment in the state of Michigan is scarce, if you can find a job you should stand and do cartwheels. Well this person has been attending a program to help find employment for the past 8 months and finally he is lucky enough to get one. But 11 days into this job he is picked up on a bench warrant. I have managed to save this job thus far but I can't hold on to it forever. What can I do to show the friend of the court/court/prosecuting attorney that jail time or other enforcement at this time would create job loss? Something that is so desperately needed to resolve this issue. And after 8 months of searching for a job, to lose it would be very devasting and no hope of another job in the near future. What can I do?

Re: back child support enforcement

You can't do much more than explain it. However, after a while, the courts may think that you have cried "wolf" one too many times. William S. Stern
