Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan
My brother-n-law is on ssi disability and is paid 1,300 a month.He also recived a 40,000 dollar settlement from workmans comp.He and his wife are now separating. They live in Montana and have been married for seven years.She has a job and makes 5,000 a month.She went to the bank and withdrew 20,000 dollars of the comp money.My question! is she entitled to that money.

He needs to contact an attorney in Montana ASAP. In Michigan, it depends if the settlement was for past or future assistance, and where the money was deposited (e.g. a joint account). He really needs to contact a Montana attorney to enter an Order that restrains her from dissipating or spending the assets. Good luck.
