Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

Can I Change?

I had a child about 8 years ago w/ a women, we were never married. At the time I made a considerable amount of money and have always paid her a large sum on time also paid for our sons clothing, schooling, medical, etc....My sons mother has been dependent on this money all along, she has not worked.Ihave my son 4 times a week and now I have not worked for about 4 years. I still have a decent amount of money in the bank, but I want that for him when he gets older.(Just to let you know, I stopped working to be with my son, because the mother was dropping him off at all hours of the night and fighting with me constantly). I now have a new job and make roughly about $25,000/yr I still have my son 4 days a week and pay all his expenses, I want to know....Can I reduce her child support since I have him as much as she does? Also, will they base what I have to pay her on what I have in the bank or on what I make? I don't feel its fair that she lives off of what I have saved for his future?

Re: Can I Change?

The new guidelines take into account times that you have the child, especially if you have him more than 6 consecutive days. See a lawyer about modifying the order of support. Bill Stern 248-353-9400
