Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

name change after divorce

I got divorced in Michigan and currently live in AZ. I spoke to my lawyer after the divorce because I noticed on the divorce decree he did not fill in my maiden name. He told me that a just needed to go to the social security office and change my name. I feel like that information is inaccurate. If I do need to go thru and legally change my name what state should I be filling out paperwork for? Please help very confused!

Your divorce lawyer should go back and amend the Judgment of Divorce to correctly change your name.
