Changing of Last Name to What Name I was Born With

My real father died when i was 3 yrs.old. My mother remarried and that step father adopted me and change my last name to his. I'm know 58 yrs.old and would like to die with my real name. I have all good records of accounts etc.

My question is how involved and coastly would it be to legally change my name back?

Not that difficult. It would require the filing of a petition and the court will inquire as to whether this is to avoid criminal charges or creditors.

You will have to give proper notice and follow the court rules.
