Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

child custody

How can someone who has been in jail for the past 6 years, is not on the birth certificate, only signed a paper admitting to being child's parent. He has filed papers now that he is out of jail that my daughter has kidnapped her child and is living in another state where she and her husband have lived for the past 2 years. How is this possible when there was no visitations ever established, and he hasn't paid any child support. When there was a hearing my daughter was never notified and he showed up and filed kidnapping charges against her. I am the maternal grandparent and I'm so afraid they will take our baby away (she is 9 years old) and give her to a criminal she doesn't even know. Please help

Re: child custody

Have your daughter hire an attorney to resolve this issue. You say he only sign ed a paper admitting to being the child's parent. Was this a voluntary acknowledgment of paternity? If so, that holds more weight than being on the birth certificate. However, if he is not in fact the father, then a dna test would show that. If you daughter needs a referral I'd be happy to find her one.
