Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan
Child custody
The mother of my son passed this week. I have let my son stay with his grandparents,her parents. I intended to allow this until after the funeral, but I am worried that they will not release him to me. I would like to know if I need to file a motion for custody? We live in Michigan.

Many scenarios involve the grandparents seeking an attorney to see about getting a temporary guardianship setup in the hopes that they can get permanent placement or custody of the child. If the grandparents fail to turn over your child, you need to find an attorney as soon as possible to protect your rights as the father.
