Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

Child Custody

Hi, I needed to ask what I need to do if I were to die, well first, I have physical sole custody of my son, he is 3. My ex-husband is allowed supervised visits only, b/c he has a substance abuse problem. My question is if I were to die, I would like custody of my son to go to my parents, not his father, what do I need to do for this to happen?

Re: Child Custody

You cannot guarantee that your wishes would be respected if you die. However, there are things that you can do to help push things in the direction of your parents. You should meet with an experienced family law and estate planning attorney.
