Child Custody - What state do I file?

My divorce was in Washington State. My ex received full custody because she claimed sexual abuse charges against my kids.

They are now in Michigan. I am in Florida. Where do I go to file for custody. I want this re-opened but I am told Washington then I am told Michigan. PLEASE HELP!!!

Re: Child Custody - What state do I file?

Hello, I have received a copy of your e-mail regarding custody jurisdiction. Both Washington and Michigan have jurisdiction over your children. Washington, assuming it has enacted the Uniform Child Custody Ac, retains jurisdiction as the state where the original Judgment was entered. Michigan also can have it because it is the location of the children. All in all, Michigan makes more sense because the children and there mother are here and it will be easier to cindu8ct the investigation. If you need further information feel free to cal my office.
