Child Custody for unmarried couples
I need to know who would attain custody of my child if something was to happen to me. Me and the father live together, but we are not married. He did sign a parentage paper. Thankyou!!

Dear Sir/Madam:
This is in response to your email of March 4, 2001, which this law firm received on April 30, 2001.
In Michigan, if something were to happen to you, the father of your child would be entitled to custody of your child unless he were declared by a court to be unfit.
