Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

child support to an addopted child

My Fienace is ove rin Kawait. He got a letter stateing that he needed to be in court on May 11, 2004. When i called, I was informed the child has been addopted and that this is a hearing to have a bench Warrent out for his arrest for not paying child support. If the child is addopted and the mother didn't give him ample notice why does he owe child support to the mother? We thought if child has been addopted then the support was over, Is this true? If so how do we go about getting this taking care of?

Perhaps he owes support from the time before the child was adopted. Bill Stern

You need a MI attorney to file paperwork notifying the court that he is on active military service out of the country.

Family law is a state controlled issue. I practice law in Texas and I have no idea about MI law.

Good luck!
