Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

child support

If my ex-wife and I have joint physical and joint legal custody together of our five year old son, why should I have to pay such a large amount of child support?

Re: child support

child support is mainly determined based on the parties' income, and the amount of time that the child spends with each parent. if you guys each had the kid 50% of the time, and split all expenses (child care, medical, etc), then it wouldn't be an issue.

child support is based on a formula which can be found online - or ask your attorney how the child support in your case was determined. it may need to be modified, if the support was based on a different arrangement than the current one.
